1997
Recorded live at Calgary Folk Music Festival, Prince's Island Park, Calgary, AB, Canada, July 24, 1997. The 1997 Calgary Folk Music Festival ran from Thursday, July 24 to Sunday, July 27.
John Hiatt was the closing act on main stage.
radio station: The main CBC AM radio network, now known as CBC Radio One, Calgary, aired this show at 4:00PM on Saturday, September 6, 1997. (It was rebroadcasted in 1998.)
radio host : Nora Young (see photo). "I like to bring attention to artists who don’t have big budgets".
radio show : Definitely Not The Opera (DNTO). This was a Saturday afternoon pop culture program. The show's name was a joke, a dig, on the programming that was going on simultaneously on CBC's other radio network, the stereo CBC-FM network.
That show, on what is now called CBC Radio 2, is Saturday Afternoon At The Opera, a live opera music from the Met in New York City.
(This information was kindly passed on to me by Chris Reichardt,
a festival visitor who was there, in the rain.)
Musician:
- John Hiatt (Acoustic guitar, Piano)
